Just the name Sonar Kollektiv means top quality adventurous electronic groovers so a consolidatory compilation is bound to be a winner. The 11 cuts range from the deep, melodic house of Chateau Flight’s ‘Baroque and jazz-sprinkled revamp of the classic Strictly Rhythm sound on At Jazz’s ‘For Real’ to the weird, shimmering space-funk of Stefan Goldman’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’. Other names known to label afficionados include Ame, Marcus Worgull and Henrik Scwarz while the furthest out it gets are the three tracks from Tokyo Blackj Stars, who create spaced, orchestral voodoo shuffles creaking with droning satellite ellefuent on wonderful excursions like ‘Violent Rush’. It all ends with Scwraz and Ame whooping it up with the mighty Derrick Carter on the title track. Outstanding in the current deluge of great compilations.
