Alex Smoke guides the third release in this excellent series for label Soma. It’s his debut mix CD, apparently, although in terms of track selection and overall structure it has the touch of a practiced hand. Beginning in dubbed out, other worldly form with tracks from Porn Sword Tobacco, Burial, Basic Channel, Model 500, and Rhythm & Sound, it starts to open out to darker territory like Stewart Walker Vs Theorem’s “Minor Explosions” and Aril Brikha’s “Aqua”. Mellower electro like Claro Intelecto’s “Peace of Mind” helps to even the flow out, alongside some original productions from Smoke himself. Late night science fiction sounds for astral travelling.
