Do you see what they’ve done there? Needwant neatly avoid the ‘chillwave’ tag that seems to have been applied to most things electronic and vaguely relaxing… and by surfing the ‘new wave of chill’ they’ve come up with several new names for us to check out. Whereas volume one last year had the more obvious chill out tracks from the XX and the like, this one enjoys some freedom with Houses’ ‘Soak It Up’, Beat Connection’s ‘In The Water’ and Todd Terje’s ‘Snooze 4 Love’ some of the picks. The mix, put together by FETE, starts off pretty slow but speeds up towards a disco sound as it moves on, providing a winning blend of easy going vibes and lightly energetic beats. As a result it’s a good one to kick off the evening with.
