Hed Kandi are out on the piste with this double CD of cool, soulful grooves. It’s one of their best for some time, concentrating on funkier stuff for CD1 before winding things down a bit with chillout material on the second disc. The more uptempo material is headed by Bugz in the Attic, Reel People, Ashley Beedle, Andy Caldwell and the excellent Loose Cannons. Easing down on CD2 are Pepe Deluxe – ‘Cruel Youth’ still sounds brilliant – along with Syleena Johnson and One Self, all ensuring a blissful hour. The musical equivalent of a fur coat.
