Freeland has taken two years to absorb the latest dancefloors (r)evolutions and is now back with a hot three track EP that should pick up plaudits in no time. You can instantly tell he’s improved his craft a great deal, putting much attention into structure and energy. Main title ‘Hate’ is based around a 16th arpgeggio that gives a German feel to proceedings (think ‘Exceeder’ vs ‘Abusator’) however the vibe is definitely raw and phat. Best offerings are ‘Where’s Your God Now?’ and ‘Glowsticks’ on the flip though, borrowing a leaf from Justice’s book Freeland funks hard and slow, furiously pushing effects and ideas to the max.
