The Märtini Brös are of the unpredictable kind. This time they leave their beloved electrock experiments on the side for a couple of 4/4 drugged-up trax. Laidback in an after hours kinda way ‘Darkroom’ is funky with all the right noises to mess your brain – not forgetting their usual humour (“If Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music”). On the flip ‘Joystick’ chuggs along nicely with great fat synths, Detroit touches and acid licks. Fresh from mixing Systematic’s comp, Martin Landsky delivers ‘Back (Go For The)’. Groovy and hypnotic this is a track that seriously nods at late eighties US house (spoken M vox, acidic synth, tx perc). Nothing you haven’t heard before but should do well with those into reviving acid memories.
