One thing noticeable about Scotland’s national treasure Soma in 2008 was the way they gave a bevy of fresh new talent a break. Taking that one step further the label has launched a new offshoot called Somabeta with exposing new talent its main aim. The start is not only flying but threatens to go into orbit several times on this fearsome double-header. Audofillia are Argentina’s Andy Dabula and Ecuador’s Daniel Jaramillo who whip up a unique brew based on pattering minimal pulses but draped in shimmering floaterama and percolating sounds which could be what an alien aquarium sounds like if the space-fish had penises and megaphones. On the flip lurks Lets Go outside so you know that means trouble. Although already known on the label his ‘You Make Me Struggle’ is turned over to young producer Jean Ramesse, who won a remix competition organised by LGO in association with the FOEM community of young artists. Jean perfectly plugs into LGO’s unhinged mindset, firing up a berserk thunder-cloud of racket and malevolent drones, peaking with a mindblowing climax which has to be heard to be believed. It all bodes very excitingly for some extreme noise terror and sublime disruption in the new year.
