Takkyuo Ishino & Hiroshi Kawanabe
Ink Phunk EP

Frank Muller’s long-running Berlin-based label turns its attention to the amazing techno scene continuing to swell in Japan by signing this track by one of its legends. Ishino was in Japanese dance music pioneers Denki Groove in the late 80s and has been at the forefront of the country’s techno emergence ever since. Lead cut ‘Momo’ is a buzzing, skipping glitcher which kind of updates the old vole-on-bowel minimal sound with its harsh stabs. Remixes come from Frank’s Beroshima [providing the real floor-killer with swelling sonic walls and a charging groove] and the mighty Motor on typically noisy form aided by masturbating guinea-pigs. Bonus track ‘Complicated Companion’ is also built for damage.
